In the year 1988, Late Gauri Chatterjee started a small unit with 3 challenged children at her own residence. Single focus was on compassion, responsibility and services to the under privileged Mentally Challenged and Hearing Impaired special children. With the increase in the number of impaired children of different categories (Severe, Autistic, Down Syndrome, Mild, Multiple Disability and Hearing impaired) the services took the form of a regular special day school and was shifted to Behala.

On 7th February 1998 suddenly Gouri Chatterjee passed away, leaving behind her dream project towards the services of the challenged. Her absence lead to a vacuum in the organization. But soon it was filled by many others who came forward and joined hands to run the organization in an efficient way.

With the recognition as a voluntary organization from PWD, Govt. of W.B, in 2005 , the school was brought under the ambit of CSR of Organon India Ltd. (SISHEBISHA CHARITABLE TRUST). This lasted till 2012.

In the year 2005 a plot of 4 Kattahas of land was purchased. The lion share of the cost was donated by Sri Hara Kasturi Memorial Trust. Rest was funded by innumerable number of well wishers. By this time the school was already giving a thought to the future of adult impaired students. New prevocational training courses were introduced.
